The Cash Position Cockpit (CPC) is the systematic further development of the group-wide Cash Management / MRP functionality towards structuring and cash process management requirements from business practice. Everywhere where the use of (information) know-how, the supply and maintenance of planning and actual data and the information processing, which goes with it, make up an extensive share of the company’s activities, there are also special requirements for handling the automated integration potential. On the one hand this relates to the structuring of the cash organisation, i.e. individual dependencies and allocations between bank accounts and their organisation (i.e. in cash pool organisations) need to be integrated into the company structures and processes throughout the group.
One of the main tasks for Cash Management is to operate the cash pools, which are an important instrument for optimizing liquidity positions in different currencies as well as managing the companies’ FX risk. For this purpose cash managers carry out numerous money market transactions (commercial paper programmes, short-time financing and investment) as well as foreign currency transactions every day by using the electronic treasury trading platforms. All group-internal transactions (inter-company payments and currency hedges) are executed by Corporate Treasury. Cash Management generally also operates the Payment Factory.

Corporate Finance doesn’t only take care of the relationship with the core banks but also with the rating agencies. With our solution for the SAP Treasury architecture all group companies have a central financing source and that is Corporate Finance. Corporate Finance develops and together with and for all group companies agrees an internal financing plan, which forms the basis for the provision of the necessary funds for all of the group undertakings via the available financing instruments in SAP TRM. Process Control Center (PCC)

The PCC is a sensible extension to be able to show business processes digitally from product definition up to product use consistently based on SAP PLM. Existing SAP standard data models are intensified and automatically linked to each other by additional links and are also available to ERP processes. Product development systems (CAD, CAE etc.) can be integrated via different technological approaches (direct or indirect). By using PCC innovative processes such as the following can be implemented:

Document Control Center (DCC)

Document Control Centre (DCC) is the systematic refinement of SAP document management functionality towards structuring and project management requirements from industrial business practice. Everywhere where the use of (technical) know-how, the development and maintenance of products and services and processing of relevant information which goes with it makes up an extensive part of business activities, there are also special requirements for handling documents.
On the one hand this relates to their structuring, i.e. individual dependencies and allocations need to be shown between documents and also via hierarchy levels. On the other hand there are extended requirements on integration into special company processes or on project management. In particular the latter requires that there must be individual scheduling and tracking functions, which are specifically designed to meet the requirements of documents and still remains transparent and manageable even with greater complexity and numbers. Long-term archiving is also possible in DCC based on pure SAP Netweaver components.

Material Control Center (MCC)

Via the use of MCC, products can be organised into several views. These views could for example be system engineering, detail engineering for mechanics and electrics, mechatronic integration and further views can be defined flexibly and integrated with each other. Starting from material planning items (virtual material), material master data and different forms of logistics BOMs can be generated automatically. Through the systematic use of MCC the concept of global engineering and global production can be supported efficiently. Different types of general processing are supported:

  • Standardised products (MTS)
  • Products manufactured to order (MTO, ATO, CTO)
  • Products engineered to order (ETO)
  • Merchandise

Cost Control Center (CCC)

The Cost Control Centre enables the first estimates of product costs to be created for a complex product structure even at a very early stage. To do this only very little master data needs to be entered into the SAP system. Starting from product structure nodes the product costs can be estimated very quickly based on the planned materials (virtual master data) and documents (virtual documents). Existing data can even be allocated as reference. Functions of Engineering Change Management and the configuration variants can already be used in this phase. Starting with the first product cost estimates Easy Cost planning data sets can be used, which then allow for integration into SAP Project Management and the assembly group calculations.

Automate buying processes with PCC collaboration

Digital Purchasing based on DCC makes it possible to achieve considerable increases in efficiency in the handling process. The buyer then has more time for the buyer’s primary tasks, thus increasing the quality of his work.
Increased transparency of processes, faster processing times and respective decrease in costs are further benefits. This is based on the idea of creating a “paperless” process.
All these processes make it possible for the buyer to manage all the relevant documents electronically in a secure and efficient manner:

  • Directly related to the transaction
  • General (supplier information etc.)
  • Procurement of external documents (certificates, supplier declarations, etc.)
  • Setting up digital file systems with a cockpit for files or folders
  • Automatic generation and tracking of digital correspondence via e-mail or web portal (automated collaboration platform).

The DCC (Document Control Centre) solution is fully integrated in the SAP ERP processes and is able to implement the processes in a simple and scalable manner.

The aim of the solution is to bring construction and manufacturing processes closer together. High-quality data is needed for automated supply chain or production. The starting point for the process is construction with CAD models based on product structure planning in MCC (Material Control Centre).
The product structure is modelled via the MCC (Material Control Centre), which is embedded in the SAP iPPE functionality. Starting with non-redundant CAD models a development bill of materials (E-BOM) is documented. Material master data is generated rule-based for production and procurement based on MCC. This enables the CAD modelling and material master data planning to be perfectly separated. Production and sales variants (F-BOM) are planned independently of CAD modelling. Based on this initial position the manufacturing-logistics view for the product will then be created (see diagram on the left) via the likewise integrated PCC (Production Control Centre). Thanks to the integrated data model it is possible to trace back changes in the CAD structure down to the manufacturing structure with ease.

Projectoriented buying

Using the SAP Project Management System (PS) enables the processes in product development and development for customer orders ETO (Engineered to Order) to be mapped efficiently. This generally occurs by many development activities in parallel.
Starting with PCC-PS integration individual components (i.e. advance procurement, long-term parts) or assembly groups or whole product structures can. Thanks to the use of project-oriented procurement the whole document chain will be provided with the correct data in the SAP process. Functions from the progress control area and digital procurement can also be used and are fully integrated.

Advance control

With the “Progress Tracking” function a powerful tool for tracking schedules in company processes is available. Based on freely definable event chains it is possible to model complex schedule interdependencies (each with origin, planned, actual and forecast).
This means scenarios for scheduling documents can be combined with scenarios for scheduling materials. Scheduled dates for example can be imported here from the SAP-PS module or from other ERP data sources.
By appropriately deriving deadlines, which automatically come from postings and the document chain in the SAP system, it is possible to create a focused assessment of delays in schedules for planned events and allocations of work on hand to organisational departments. These will then be shown in the corresponding progress tracking cockpit.
The main advantage in using progress tracking for following up on deadlines is, on the one hand, largely automated scheduling and derivation of dates, as well as, on the other hand, the possibility to freely model and design the supply chain for the participating entities (document logistics and material logistics) when it comes to tracking schedules.
From construction to shipping processes consistent chains of events can be defined and tracked. A set of evaluations make it possible to show quickly and clearly, where problems in the supply chain start and thus enable intervention early on.

What is characteristic about Integrated System Documentation is that it systematically supports all maintenance and/or customer service processes. Maintaining complex technical facilities requires a multitude of documents in a defined state (version, status, ...).  What is more, these documents may be archived in a non-redundant and structured way in various views. Simply drag and drop documents to archive them, and they will then be automatically indexed, too. Indexes are created using the logical MDDL = master document definition list approach. This results in an efficient system documentation supporting the following processes:

  • Linking folders and documents to technical objects (functional location, equipment, material master data, ...).
  • Integration into the procurement and production processes of e.g. spare parts.
  • Preparatory document planning and scheduling for complex maintenance processes.
  • Integration into the operational execution of maintenance and/or service orders.

In combination with MCC and DCC during the system planning phase, structures may be derived in an automated way and documents may be allocated.

Manage plants and documents

Suitable document logistics can be very helpful for executing complex service jobs. Document logistics brings together all the documents required for performing the job. This includes existing documents as well as documents that need to be created in the context of order execution (document planning). Documents created in the context of order execution are required e.g. for documentation and/or order billing purposes. It is possible, for instance, to archive them automatically in the respective folder structures and allocate them to a downstream process (invoicing).

Document Logistics

Mobile access to service documents can be effected e.g. by appropriate simplified and context-oriented interfaces (SAP Fiori / UI5). Various documentation views can be presented in the context of this search and display process:

  • Electrical layout, mechanical layout, maintenance schedules
  • Folder systems with definable contents and automated updating mechanisms for various contents such as
    • Systems
    • Order
    • User-specific

Note: documents and folders are archived non-redundantly. Interdependencies are described by efficient linking operations.

Plan and generate plant structures

The equipment labelling system makes it very easy to provide system structures, equipment and materials with standardised attributes (labels). The system used - RDS-PP, KKS or customer-specific definitions - can be designed freely. System components (systems, sub-systems, modules, assembly groups, etc.) can be pre-defined in an abstract way in modular libraries and then used for the respective application.
